CW decode software
CW decode software
I have just ordered my SDR Play and was wondering if any of the available software packages (currently looking at SDRConsole) have inbuilt CW decode capability - or a plugin that would do so ?

Re: CW decode software
John,
there are several programs you can use to decode cw, CWget, FLDigi, Multipsk, I personally have found CWGet the most accurate on machine/keyer CW, can get a bit lost on straight key morse...
you can run any sdr program and pipe the audio to the decoder, via a virtual cable, or if you look in your sound card recording devices, you can use stereo mix too...
Older SDR console used to have a CW decoder, but the author took it out, now only does PSK/RTTY, lots of people on his yahoo group have been asking for the CW back, so who knows...

Re: CW decode software
Hello Paul
I really appreciate your reply, and will look through the programs you mention.
Could you clarify one point for me? What is a "virtual cable"?
Thank you for your help.

Re: CW decode software
I guess the same applies to CW Skimmer, i.e. the only way to get SDRPlay to "talk" to skimmer is via Virtual Audio Cable, limiting the deciding bandwidth to 24kHz.
Has anyone played with CWSkimmer and SDRPlay?

Re: CW decode software
I did it a while ago, using VAC.

Re: CW decode software
You can set VAC to 192khz wide and and use softrock IF, works great, and using sdr-console you can have multiple VFO's feedinfg separate VAC'skx7m wrote:I guess the same applies to CW Skimmer, i.e. the only way to get SDRPlay to "talk" to skimmer is via Virtual Audio Cable, limiting the deciding bandwidth to 24kHz.

There's a neat video on setting up CW Skimmer and HDSDR here https://youtu.be/tw205yjZsug
