SDRPlay and external sound card

Post by wm3m » Fri Feb 05, 2016 7:38 pm

Is it possible to use SDRplay with an external sound card, like a singalink? If so, how do you make the connections? My internal sound card has quite a bit of noise. Thank you 73

The Tigertronics USB interface is ideal for plug and play interfacing between a specific ham rig and your PC. But you are then tied to the signal chain of your ham rig. The (up to 8MHz) spectrum signalling from the SDRplay RSP relies on the specially designed USB interface feeding the PC directly. Thus the Tigertronics cannot really be inserted to help. Your problem may be more to do with noise getting into the USB cable going the RSP. Make sure you have ferrite beads at each end of the USB cable and if that still doesn't help, contact support@sdrplay.com

With SDRplay the sound card is only used for output.
You can use also the sound channel of an HDMI connection if you use a TV as display.
A nice feature to find the best setup is playing back the same recording.
If you suspect the various cables to radiate interference you can start a recording
and disconnect almost all cables from your PC except power supply and the SDRplay on USB.
