SDRuno software now available for the RSP

Post by jon » Sun Jun 19, 2016 7:58 am

SDRplay is pleased to announce the official release of SDRuno for the RSP. SDRuno is the new name for the RSP compatible version of Studio1, the rights to which we obtained and announced on 28th April. SDRuno contains native support for the SDRplay RSP and no extra plugins are required. Third party hardware can also be supported via the ExtIO interface, but with reduced functionality.

SDRuno provides a rugged and flexible, high performance SDR receiver capability and boasts some excellent features:

• Multiple ‘Virtual Receivers’ which allow for simultaneous reception and demodulation of different types of signals within the same receiver bandwidth.
• A selectivity filter with an ultimate rejection greater than 140 dB.
• A unique distortion-free double stage AGC with fully adjustable parameters.
• Multiple notch filters with BW adjustable down to 1 Hz, Notch Lock feature.
• A unique synchronous AM mode with selectable/adjustable sidebands, dedicated PLL input filter, and selectable PLL time constants.
• SNR (stereo noise reduction), featuring a proprietary noise reduction algorithm for stereo broadcast.
• AFC for FM signals.
• Calibration for receiver frequency errors.

Over time, we plan to add many more features to SDRuno to enhance the user’s experience of this very powerful piece of software. This software runs on Windows and we don’t yet know how easy it will be to migrate it to other platforms but this is something we will be investigating.
SDRuno will be made freely available to all current and future users of the RSP – to download a copy of both the software and the documentation – simply go to

http://www.sdrplay.com/windows.html

Our support for SDRuno in no way lessens our commitment to support HDSDR, SDR Console, Cubic SDR or ANY other software solution where the authors are willing to work with us. We fully recognise that many people have strong preferences for particular pieces of software and we do not want to do anything to undermine the options that people have to use their favoured software packages. Indeed, our view is quite the opposite. Our objective remains aim to have our hardware platforms support any and every SDR package out there. This of course may not be possible, but it is our philosophy and part of the ethos of our company.

I hope a youtube video will be available soon to help understand the new software, with its multi-window control that seems at first glance, to be overly complicated to understand and use....other than that....I like it a lot. :)

What a mess!
The first time I DLed the SDRuno manual, I got a PDF file with essentially no content. I just tried again and got apparently the complete PDF but the link to the DL is dead (404, Not Found). There is no link to SDRuno on the the page with the manual, only a link that goes directly to the Studio1 site.
The cookbook PDF DLed fine.
So, w5ggh, where did you DL SDRuno from?
Thanks, John.

Just click on the word SDRuno and it takes you to the download page :) Actually links there to two different things, one the program, the other the manual.........speaking of manuals.....goto the 'Platforms' link, then 'Windows', down the page to the 'cookbook' guide....very helpful.

Thanks W5ggh, just figured that out. It is not clear where the link to the SW is. Clicking on any line but the top gets the manual and the link inside the manual is dead. Not top quality presentation.
Enjoy, John.

Same problem here. I may be stupid, but Gary's directions didn't work either. I may juststick to what I already know.

Downloaded, installed, and spent some time playing with SDRuno last night.

First impressions are very good.

Although I used an older version of SDRSharp for some things, my fallback has generally been to HDSDR. SDR Console V2 is feature packed and worked quite well but don't much like the look and feel of the user interface and tend to fall back to HDSDR. SDR Console V3 is a step in the right direction but I have been having some issues with it as well; it is not yet even in beta release so there is much more to come of V3.

That all said, SDRuno seems to be just about right in all aspects, look, feel, function - all the best of SDRSharp, HDSDR, SDR Console (etc). Has a bit of steep learning curve to get everything on screen and saving "workspaces" but is generally not too bad.

I think SDRPlay has found a very good SDR Windoze app to bundle with their SDRPlay, well done.

However, I only use Windoze when I need to and unfortunately for use with some of the current offerings of SDR hardware, seems to be the only environment which has good, easy to install, feature rich applications.

What is missing now from the SDRPlay lineup is a good, easy to install (for casual users), and feature rich SDR application for Linux and Apple OS's. I have been struggling with GQRX (also very good app when I can get it to work properly) on Linux and have also managed to build and install Cubic SDR in Linux and it too has promise.

SDRuno for Linux? Maybe? Perhaps? Yes please and thank you.

cheers, Graham ve3gtc

Click anywhere on the first line and you can DL the SDRuno installer. Click the second line, Release Notes and third the Manual will DL. Passing the cursor over the lines does nothing - no indication there are links here except the URL shows in my browser window at the lower left.
The SW runs well and looks nice from my very limited time playing but takes some time to get the tricks.
This nonsense that I cannot post directly caused this split in my post. Hope that goes away soon.
Enjoy, John.
