Using SDR Play with LDG tuner
Using SDR Play with LDG tuner
Can I use the SDR play with an antenna tuner?

Re: Using SDR Play with LDG tuner
Would the transmission during tuning effect the SDR play? Do other people use tuners?

Re: Using SDR Play with LDG tuner
In the instructions I have with SDRplay it states that it should have its won antenna and this must be as far away as possible from the TX. It wouldn't take much stray Rf to blow the semi-conductors in the SDR.

Re: Using SDR Play with LDG tuner
It takes very little RF to blow the front end of the RSP. You need at least 5-10w minimum either dead key or a CW carrier to engage the LDG tuner properly. I suggest a manual tuner if your want to zero in on signals with the RSP. You can find them used at Ham fest for $30 or online from $30-50. If you need to use your rig and the RSP together well that is a whole different beast. I would not TX anywhere near the RSP even with the antenna unplug.

I am not sure if I am telling Granny how to suck eggs, but here goes anyway
The other thing to point out that "the so called antenna tuner" is NOT AN ANTENNA TUNER. The devices could/should be called an ANTENNA COUPLER or MATCHER. It's purpose is to match the impedance of a TX (or RX), to the impedance presented at the
equipment end of the feed line. It is more critical to achieve a good match in transmitting than receiving.
ANTENNA TUNING can only be achieved by adjusting the length of the antenna, something that the ANTENNA COUPLER/MATCHER cannot do.

I am looking for a good used Jupiter. For its age, it is an excellent rig
