ADS-B Support

Post by tonycart » Thu May 14, 2015 7:09 pm

I have just bought a RSP , upgrading from a RTL dongle. Are there any ADS-B programs or plugins that are compatible with this device.

Tony

We are currently looking into providing an ADS-B solution for the RSP.

We are looking for volunteers to be early alpha testers and to provide feedback.

The early alpha testers would need to be existing RSP customers and be prepared to engage with the development team to drive the solution forward. The initial development platform would probably be Linux based but having alpha testers on a variety of platforms would also be useful.

Please either reply to this thread or send a PM to sdrplay or an email to info@sdrplay.com if you are interested.

Best regards,

SDRplay

Hi, I'm currently using RTL1090 with a dongle and full working paid copy of Plane Plotter for windows.

Would be interested in a RSP solution for windows.

Keep me posted - Always keen to take a first look see and give it a try.

Adrian.

Count me in to test, running ADSB#/RTL1090/DUMP1090 and Virtual Radar Server, with feeds to FR24/Flightaware

gr-air-modes almost works with the SDRplay gr-osmocom library. It doesn't crash, but isn't able to receive anything because the bandwidth stays at 1.536 MHz even with the sample rate set to 5 MSPS. Unfortunately gr-air-modes does not provide a way to set the bandwidth as far as I can tell. One solution would be to modify the gr-osmocom SDRplay library to increase the default bandwidth when sample rates above 2 MSPS are selected. I haven't had a chance to modify the library to test that.

The SDRplay is certainly able to receive ADS-B signals when tuned to 1090 MHz with the right bandwidth, so the solution shouldn't be too difficult.

Any more news on ADSB support on the Sdrplay?

Is this still being tested, and are you still looking for more people to try and test?

Dear SJG1976,
This is still very much part of our plans, but we have had a significant interruption in our development plans driven by the changes to SDR Sharp and the need to develop new software plugins to support the latest versions. As soon as we have news, we will be posting information and we ill be very grateful for help in beta testing, but I am afraid we are unable to give a schedule at this point in time.

Sincerely

Thanks for the update.

I'm happy to test if needed.
Been using an RTL Dongle on a Raspberry Pi for a while now and feeding to Plane Plotter, Virtual Radar, Flightaware etc.

Have Windows, Raspberry, and Ubuntu to test on should anything become available.

Keep up the good work.

At the moment just been testing ACARS from the SDRPlay, HDSDR and Planeplotter.
