Using SDR Play to log the strength of a signal

Post by VE7AFZ » Sun Jul 16, 2017 7:46 am

Hi, I'm looking for an SDR to use to continuously monitor a signal and log the signal strength. Essentially I'm looking to create a data file that contain a new line / field every second or so showing the actual signal strength of a given frequency. From an RF perspective the SDRplay units look like a good fit for this application but I'm unclear what software I would need to create the log file I am looking for. This is for a hobby / amateur radio application. I have a reasonable back ground in computers (spent several decades working in the technology industry but would prefer not to have to write my own software.)

Any hints would be appreciated.

All the best
