dump1090 adsb software for sdrplay: dump1090-sdrplay
dump1090 adsb software for sdrplay: dump1090-sdrplay
Being new to this forum I'll introduce myself
My name is jan (and I am a senior citizen, so my forumname is janSenior) and in my spare time I like to write software.
Last year(s) I was working - on and off - on DAB software and some sw software (it is all on github).
Recently I was looking for some other topics and got interested in acars and adsb stuff.
I noticed that for both acars and adsb there was software supporting the rtlsdr sticks, and since I prefer to use an sdrplay device
I adapted (to some extent rewrote) the acarsdec software of Thierry Leconte (a complete restructuring of the software) and
the dump1090 software made by Salvatore Sanfilippo <antirez@gmail.com>. The dump1090 software is exspecially interesting since it
can visualize - using google maps - on your screen where different planes are above your head (at least I like it)
While for DAB and sw there are windows executable, that is not (yet) the case with either acars-sdrplay or dump1090-sdrplay,
but the source are available on github https://github.com/JvanKatwijk
Comments are more than welcome
best

For everyone's information, Jan wrote the DAB software that is on the Raspberry Pi image and is a great servant to the SDRplay community with his work.
Jan, please let me publicly thank you for your great contribution and efforts.
Sincerely

Re: dump1090 adsb software for sdrplay: dump1090-sdrplay
qt-1090 is derived from dump1090-sdrplay and now contains a GUI and will run under Windows as well as under Linux.
The life for Windows users is (at least for this using this program) slightly easier than it is for Linux users, since for Windows there is
a zipped folder with the executables (and more), while Linux users now have have have Qt and qwt installed, and
- since I am using an external library for HTTP transfers - this HTTP library has to be installed.
The sources of the HTTP library are part of the sourcetree of qt-1090.
The sources can be found at https://github.com/JvanKatwijk/qt-1090, the aforementioned zipped folder can be found
in that repository in the releases section.
The software is still under development, I have it running under Fedora and W10.
As usual, comments and suggestions are welcome

Hi Jan, Can you give a better link to the zip file? I went to the 1090 releases section but there were no files there?

Re: dump1090 adsb software for sdrplay: dump1090-sdrplay
Thanks Jan,
I just became a member of this forum having just purchased the RSPduo. I have the SDRplay version running and want to try yours.
I am currently rebuilding my experimental (Wittman Tailwind) and installed the UAT vesion of ADS-B (978Mhz).
I wanted to test the unit but can't find any software for the RSPduo that would decode the UAT version. There is dump978 code out there for Linux but not windows. It would be nice to be able to use the duo to monitor both 1090 and 978 at the same time.
I am not a coder other than doing machine language MANY years ago on a PDP15. Will have to find a class somewhere.
Any chance you could port the dump978 over as well?
Thanks again for your efforts,
Merle
