Re: Would wrapping the unit in AlFoil tape help shield it?
I suppose if you have bucket loads of money you could locate your antenna and SDR receiver remotely in an area of low noise and operate it over the internet - transferring the I/Q signals to your home QTH That's what I am dreaming of daily. I already checked out a couple of affordable real estates ...

Re: Signal mirrors all over the band.
Are you using a noise blanker which is adjusted very "tight"?
Noise blankers sometimes produce "ghost" signals when there are strong signals in the passband.
Just a guess.

Ah! I have an "SMA one". I did not know.g1hbe wrote:The early SRP's used an F-type connector.!

Re: AM broadcast stations on evry band to 30 MHz?!
Now I just need to play "find the F to BNC adapter" again, does it have to be 50 ohms Do you mean BNC/SMA? What is the approximate impedance of a long wire anyways? "Longwires" do no have a constant impedance over the frequency range. That depends on length, height above ground a.s.o. The impedance...

Re: Would wrapping the unit in AlFoil tape help shield it?
The answer may sound blunt, but it is: When shielding the unit with foil improves the noise situation then it helps against electric stray fields. When shielding the unit with a steel cabinet (iron) improves the noise situation then it helps against magnetic and electric stray fields. But when you d...

Re: RA0SMS Miniwhip bad performance on SDRPlay
As soon as my gout goes away in my foot I'll take the RSP to a friend This is certainly the best solution to find out. 80 mA seem to be OK. If it should work at your friend's location, I have some thoughts (theoretically): The Russian electronics uses a dual gate MOSFET. According to my experience ...

Re: RA0SMS Miniwhip bad performance on SDRPlay
You could open the feed unit and measure the current where the fuse is placed with the Amp meter to get a first impression. If it is not within (estimated) 70 and 90 mA something is wrong in the antenna amplifier.

Re: RA0SMS Miniwhip bad performance on SDRPlay
Have you tried the antenna on a different receiver to rule out that is is defective?

Re: New User and Virtual Audio Cable
Try VB-Cable or HiFi-Cable from Vincent Burel http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/ It's donation ware. You can also use VAC from Eugene Muzychenko. http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/ It's commercial. If your PC's soundcard has a Stereomix pin (sometimes this must be activated in the recordin...

Re: SDRPlay with SDRuno. Dream not decoding DRM!
I installed the faad2.drm.dll into the folder. Just to make sure: The dll should be called libfaad2.dll . I have it running with Dream 1.13 (for media contens like French slide shows ;-)) and Dream 2.1. In some earlier versions of Dream they called it faad2_drm.dll (just renaming helped ;-)), but I...
