Re: Front end protection during TX?

@kj9ptom RF is a funny thing. I'm not sure how you're shorting your input but yes you might still be able to hear some signals but that doesn't mean signal levels will not be sufficiently attenuated to protect your SDRplay. I ended up buying a Stridsberg Engineering MCA204M multicoupler to share my ...

Re: Front end protection during TX?

EDITED: A few points corrected regarding HiZ use. @OH2BUA The capacitance of 1N4148 diodes is 4pf. A pair of them in parallel would be 8pf plus the capacitance of the leads/wiring which could easily exceed 10pf total. This will significantly load the 50 ohm input of an RSP at higher frequencies. For...

Re: Front end protection during TX?

Thank you for the prompt, detailed, and better than expected reply. It gives me a lot of faith in SDRplay as a company. The diode I linked is a very small surface mount device and I can appreciate how such tiny devices can't safely dissipate much sustained power. It's good to know all your RSPs at l...

Front end protection during TX?

I'm curious if anyone can comment on how the antenna switching is handled in the RSP2? I'm specifically interested in knowing if it's more protected from overload when powered down and what about when powered but the connected antenna input is not selected? There was an earlier thread talking about ...
