Re: VHF/UHF Reception Problems

High bands are typical FM and USB. AM is seldom used as far as I know.

Start with FM radiostations between 88-108MHz, then you know you are on the right track.

Why? These stations are easy to verify and are high-power.

Re: Static from Antenna

Make sure you have the system grounded, even electrical ground is good. Also, outside at the loop antenna, put a 100 KOhm to 1 MOhm resistor over the 2 poles of the antenna, it will discharge the static to ground....the electrical ground. I assume you use coax. If you don't use coax, then take both ...

Re: C++ mir_sdr.h importing issues

Glad you got it working.

I'm not using Windows but Linux, so I could only point you in a direction.

You may want to make a compile-batch file in case you need to compile it again, newer versions or so.
I tend to forget such things after a while :D

Re: HIGH PASS FILTER FOR OPTIMUM HF RECEPTION

Hi Glovisol,

True, 160m is a bit of a problem, I solved that by using an upconverter and turned all the filters on.

But Hi-Z has no filters at all, it goes straight into the ADC, not good if you have big signals near you.

Re: HIGH PASS FILTER FOR OPTIMUM HF RECEPTION

Hi Glovisol, I understand about the MW-notch filter not being present in older units. However the RSP1A is far more advanced then any of them, is has more filters. Like a 0-2 MHz LPF and bandpass 2-12 MHz. Now I see your problem, you are using devices that don't have these filters whereas the RSP1A ...

Re: HIGH PASS FILTER FOR OPTIMUM HF RECEPTION

Hi Glovisol, I don't get it, why are you doing this? There are 2 build in filters that can and will do this for you. Have a look here: https://www.sdrplay.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Conceptual-Block-Diagram-RSP2.pdf What you see is that Hi-Z has no filters or anything, where the 50 Ohm inputs do...

Re: a rtl_tcp compatible IQ server for the RSP

Update: I rewrote parts of the driver-server and it works great upto 2.880 MSPS and at the correct BW and decimation simply off.

It's only intended for use with websdr.org software but may work with other software.

Re: C++ mir_sdr.h importing issues

Try this instead:

Code: Select all

#include <mirsdrapi-rsp.h>
It looks for a function that seems not to be there, it's my guess your inclusion isn't the right file and thus lacking the mir_sdr_DebugEnable function.

Re: Impedance matching - RSP1A

It's my experience that most receivers are not that sensitive to antenna impedance. As such I do not care what my antenna does as long as it's receiving, you are mostly reducing signal levels anyway to avoid overloading. :lol: Also, in most cases the SDR radios get too much signal anyway to be a pro...
