SDRUno vs. Others

Hello all. New to SDR radios and a fairly new ham. My question is how does SDRUno work better with my RSP1A vs. other programs like SDR Console? Or what can SDRUno do that SDR Console cannot with my RSP1A?

i have tried all the SDR programs, UNO, HDSDR,SDR CONSOLE, and something play, came back to UNO, depending what you want to do, i use mine as a pan adapter on my 590SG, once you get past the learning curve youll enjoy. TIP! watch the videos the have posted, tremendous help. but figure out what you want to do first

Thanks for the reply. I also use it as a panadapter for my 590SG. I like both Uno and SDR Console but with Uno the audio drops out if I look at more the 5 MHz of spectrum. With Console I can look at the whole 10 MHz with no problems. Don't understand that because neither program is taxing my computer. Just wondering if I am missing out on anything buy using SDR Console instead of SDRuno.

Your apparent USB bandwidth issue aside, I find most modern SDR software is fairly comparable in its ability to receive, filter and demodulate. The difference is in configuration, layout and usability. In that respect, I find SDRUno to be well ahead of all the other SDR software I have tried. For me at least, it is just the right blend of traditional radio layout / presentation plus advanced SDR-only features. And the fact that it was included at no extra cost with my RSP2 was a big plus.

Try a different USB port for starters. Heck, try all of them Depending on your motherboard, some may be faster than others. Also, some USB ports are grouped together on an internal hub. If that places the SDR on the same hub as another traffic hog, that could be an issue.

I can operate on my Intel Core2 2.5 ghz Dell laptop at the full sample rate with 32 bit Windows 7 but on my Win 7 64 bit 3.2 ghz 10 core cpu system SdrUno chokes when the SR exceeds 5 Mhz. As pgoelz suggests, and I concur, the bottleneck may reside in USB not the CPU.

Unless you need to use SDRUno you can achieve higher sample rates with other software, such as SDR Console or HDSDR.

Here are the specs of my computer. Probably overkill for my Ham Radio needs but I got it on sale for a good price. I tried switching USB ports with no change to the audio issue with SDRuno. SDR Console runs flawlessly.

I like both. I was just wondering if I am missing out on anything by not using Uno since it was developed with SDRplay in mind. I will probably stick with Console since it works "out of the box".
