For Mike: Bug In Latest Vers. ?

Hi Mike,

Thanks so much for ALL the previous help.
Have run across this "problem," and want to run it by you.

Using the latest vers. of SDRUno.
I use it on my iMac, via the Parallels W10 emulation.

When it works, it works fine.
Great program.
I can't begin to imagine how many hrs of work went into it.
Thanks for making it available.

But,

Seemingly at random, when starting SDRUno, I get that error msg.: SDRUno Error: Device cannot
be initialized (SDRPlay_api_Service Not Responding)

Have reinstalled several times. Usually, after the reinstall, it works fine
for a few opening of the program, and closing of the program, and opening again...
Then it hangs up, and that error msg.

Another reinstall, and same.

What does seem to correct the problem, usually, is plugging and unplugging the RSP USB cable to Mac in and out.
This invariably allows running (but not all the time).

So, what do you think is happening ?

Undoubtedly, as usual, probably something on my end, but I cannot come up
with any more ideas, or things to try. Really takes a lot of the fun out of using.
Don't want to have to keep reinstalling, or plugging and unplugging.

Thoughts ?

Regards,
Bob

Get a $100 used laptop with Windows 7 & do away with mac € emulator, make it simple, no more trouble or complication. Works fine all the time

Hello sdrom,

Thanks for thoughts on this.
Good idea, but unfortunately I am a bit space limited, and using another
pc, irrespective of size, would be tough.

Am really hoping that Mike, or some of you experts might offer suggestions
for what is causing this problem.

Undoubtedly on my end, but I am not too sharp
with this "stuff" anymore (in my 80's now) and am truly out of ideas as to what to try.

Sure takes the fun out of using it.
When it does work, it works well.
But it's a real flip of the coin as to whether it will "see that _api" or not.

If you have any ideas, or if anyone else does, please do let me know.

As always, appreciate the help, very much.

Regards,
Bob

When this happens to me. I don't re-install the whole program. I just unplug the usb cable from the SDRPlay side and then plug it back in. This usually takes care of the problem. Once in a while I reboot the computer and that works too. But I never re-install the software. This is a USB issue.

Hi Robert,

Perhaps you should locate the "Restart API service" file and click on it and/or delete the SDRuno INI file when you have difficulties, see pic below....Perhaps you do not have to re-install all with this trick.

Hi,

Thanks all for the help and suggestions.
Sure is a lot to know, and learn:

a. Re unplugging and re-plugging the USB cable: Why does it matter which end is unplugged ?
It was mentioned to unplug from the SDRPlay side.

b. I never knew about that listing on the left that shows the Restart api Service.
Will certainly try it.

c. Could you perhaps discuss a little bit re the suggestion to Delete the SDRUno INI file. Why ?
I guess I don't understand what this does.

What does deleting it actually do ?
**Does it have to be re-installed ?

Thanks,
Bob

You can unplug USB any end.

You can close SDRuno, restart api service & delete ini file then restart sdruno afresh, no problem try it

Hi,

So the .ini file is created automatically, as needed ?

Thanks for help,
Bob
