How to get HEX file into Arduino Nano?

I have used Ardino IDE to successfully program an Arduino Leonardo by creating a .ino file (sketch)
I am however at a loss, even after reading lots here from other users and doing research, in how to
get a HEX file into the Arduino Nano.
Arduino IDE only handles .ino files.
I use Putty regularly to communicate with my Raspberry Pi SatNOGS stations.
I'm obviously not a programmer and would appreciate a few pointers.
I have investigated Microsoft Visual Studio but recognize it is way above my skillsets.
I have wired the Nano and AD9850 as per instructions here.
Somebody pleas point me in the right direction.
Thanks vk2byf

You should be able to use Xloader. Do a bit of research first on this app before using it.
