Morse Decoding

Hi,

My SDRplay easily outputs CW signals via my soundcard to my speakers ..

There is a very clever morse decoding program called CWGET by Sergei Podstrigailo, UA9OSV.
This works by decoding morse audio fed to the microphone socket of your soundcard - very nice.

Now this seems very close to having SDRplay's CW output accessible to the CWGET program - the computer's soundcard already has the SDRplay output passing though it - it's a pity the two programs aren't able to talk to each other ..

There may be some way, temptingly close, but I haven't found it yet ..

Search for "Virtual Audio Cable" or VAC.

There are open source (i.e. no cost) and pay for version available for Windows which work quite well.

You may also be able to connect your speaker out to mic in your computers sound card and accomplish something similar. However, you would no longer be able to "hear" the output to the speaker and you would have to play around the configuration and settings of your computer audio mixer.

I am sure there are others here that will have more experience setting this sort of thing up and will likey be more helpful than I.

you just need a Virtual Audio Cable, VAC there are two options, one has a free sample for 1 cable

this will allow you to pipe the audio from any sdr program HDSDR or SDR-Console into CWGet...

Thanks guys - I'd never come across a 'virtual cable'

I tried it, but the only activity I noticed at one attempt, was that CWGET was trying to decode CW from the music output of Windows Media Player .. Obviously not a good idea ..

I think I need an 'Idiots Guide to Virtual Cables'

Thanks for the suggestions guys - but it turned out to be much simpler using Windows itself ..

Once you've enabled Stereo Mixer in the Windows Sound - Recording section, it all happens automagically

CWGET starts decoding the morse directly - wonderful.
