Beam steering and noise cancelling possible with RSPduo?

Does the new RSPduo in any software have the possibility to combine the two I/Q signals phase and amplitude adjustable in order to suppress local noise using two antennae?
This way to fight against local noise is a big advantage with two channel coherent receivers. The Angelia/Orion boards together with PowerSDR mRX and the Afedri two channel LAN SDR together with Linrad have such an option.
If this would be possible with the RSPduo the RSPduo would indeed be an attractive receiver fit for the daily fight against neighbourhood noise without having to spend high amounts of money.

Hello Heinrich,
Not yet, but this precise feature is planned for a later release of SDRuno. Of course as soon as we publish the details of the new API, anyone in principle would be able to write software to do this as well.

Sincerely

This would also be attractive for radio astronomy use. You would have the makings of an phase switching interferometer. Beam steering would be great for us also. Looking forward to the new feature.

Beam steering and especially noise cancelling with two coherent receivers is the only way to at least partly get rid of the RF noise coming from all the neighbouring houses. Hardware noise cancellors are only second choice because you cannot adjust phase and amplitude as precisely as with a software solution. And they suffer from crosstalk and isolation problems. Without the software phasing of e. g. PowerSDR and the Angelia board which I am using I would have given up listening to LW...SW a long time ago. It makes at least possible to null steer one noise source perfectly, but, to be honest, the number of noise sources is growing day by day. But with the software phaser you have at least a weapon. The problem is: The receivers which support this are rare and very expensive. Here the RSPduo could fill a market gap.

I'm very much hoping this is possible soon I have bad man-made mains type 50hz interference making amateur AM reception poor, portable operation demonstrates an improvement from S8 to S4 with the same analogue receiver! Fancy analogue style filtering in the digital domain is impressive but so much more should be possible with an SDR. I already own the disappointing Elad Dour, it's likely I'll purchase the dual input SDR provided I can be confident it can solve the noise problems. Ian G6TVJ

Me, too. But development goes slowly. Simon Brown announced several months a go he was planning to introduce noise cancelling/phasing by diversity in SDRConsole. But nothing happened so far. These people live in an exclusive environment, they do not know what noise is :P .
I have noise cancelling by diversity in my Angelia board and PowerSDR mRX and it is really the only way to bring back a bit of joy to our hobby in an urban environment (except from acquiring a quiet rural place, of course, which not many of us can afford). But the Angelia board is deprecated and its successor is very expensive. It would like such an option in an affordable SDR and the RSPduo would be one.

Just to keep this thread active, I will second your request.
In the past I also have used PowerSDR mRX with a Afedri 822x dual channel with succes. I bought the SRPduo as a upgrade and was hoping that it could be realized within a few months. I also have used a Timewave ANC4 and a MFJ-1026 that I modified in past life, hi hi :)

Heinrich, I guess that not even 2% of the SDR users so far have had any contact with beam steering or noise cancelling ever or the request for development would have been much bigger. Seeing what results I have observed in the past it seems to be so.

Yes Simon has a lot on his plate and he can only work with what SDRplay can offer, API wise.

Maybe the technical team of SDRplay can offer us some test work on the development of this function as we have gained some experience in the past :?: :?: :?:

The Windows API fully supports the dual tuner (time and phase synchronous) functionality as demonstrated by Mike Rooke here: https://www.sdrplay.com/community/viewt ... f=7&t=3508

We are working on the non-Windows version of the API and 2 stream support will come in a future release of SDRuno. The API is available for any developer to use in their application.

Best regards,
