The RSP series of processors, together with SDRuno or othyer equivalent software makes for an excellent SPECTRUM ANALYSER. If a companion TRACKING GENERATOR was available or Teven tracking generators for definite bands, we wuold have a budget priced, but extremely effective SWEEPER FACILIY which would dramatically increase the usefulness of the RSP processor itself.

Design stafff... any ideas?

One of our group is working on a spectrum analyzer package for the SDRplay. He talks about the challenges of including a tracking generator.

No dedicated tracking generator is needed. These units work very well with a broadband noise source such as those easily available on eBay and other places. I have very successfully used an RSP1 along with a cheap BG7TBL noise source which I bought on eBay in order to measure filter bandwidth, and I even added a directional coupler and can read return loss easily.

You can read about my results here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1562

Even better, one of our fellows here is creating a wonderful program for use with the RSPx as a spectrum analyzer. You can see that here:
