One thing I would find useful is a programmable 4 bit output. I envisage this being used for remote switching. Maybe select from a range of preselectors, external preamp/ attenuator, antenna selector switch etc.
The alternative for me is to use an arduino, WiFi shield and relay board but it would be nicer to have it in the receiver.

I support this idea.
But as it would need some hardware may be some kind of variable DC voltage on the aerial input could help.
