Crackling Noise in Audio Using SDR Console

Post by w2mv » Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:51 pm

Running the latest version of SDR Console. There is an annoying crackling sound in the audio, especially apparent on signals. I don't get this when I've used other SDRs. I changed the bandwidth to the minimum (250 KHz) but that didn't seem to help. The PC CPU runs at 25-35%.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Have a look at the audio latency settings in the program options. I think this will solve your issues.

That did improve the crackling for me. Can I get an explanation of what the latency setting is actually affecting and how I can know what the right setting is other than by just listening?

Basically I had to turn it all the way up (to the right).

Thanks for the suggestion and the help!

I have a similar problem with my pc. Background processes will mess up the audio, regardless of audio source. In my case Acronis TRUE iMAGE 2015 was running, in the background, and caused the PC to slowdown significantly. While Acronis is a good product and able to backup the entire PC, it made a mess, not only audio but video and slowed down executable programs. I disabled the background process and eliminated the problem. I am sure other processes will do the same. Check what is running.
Running Windows 10 with a Dell i7 cpu.
