High Z with G5RV

Post by m0pai » Tue Jan 03, 2017 3:42 pm

Hi,

I'm looking at using the High Z port of the RSP2 with the G5RV and wasn't sure if i needed to add the 1:9 Balun inline, the feeder lengh is quite long 40ft+.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Just connect it to the hi-z port, it will work fine.
Inner of the coax to P connect N und ground together and the coax outher

What connection at the Hi-Z port is made using 450 ohm ladder line?

Ladder line is balanced, so connect across P and N. Ignore the G terminal.

Thx so much. I wanted to be sure nothing was needed to match the 450 ohm ladder line to the 1k ohm impedance listed for the High Z port.

No problem. 450 ohm into 1k is regarded as a good match, as it's only a 2:1 ratio. On receive it makes little difference anyway. Happy twiddling!
