sdrplay & KenwoodTS590SG
sdrplay & KenwoodTS590SG
Has anyone got experience of running sdrplay with the 590SG - will it run 'plug n play' from the DVR RCA socket on the rear of the radio?

Things are a lot easier with a TS590SG than they are with the TS590Smurphy16 wrote:Hello,

There's a great article here :
http://www.qrz.com/db/K4LCD/ where K4LCD says “Connect the antenna output of the SDRplay RSP receiver to the DRV (RCA jack on the back of the TS-590SG) after previously enabling "ANT" from Menu 85 and connecting the TS-590SG USB 2.0 jack to your Windows computer. Now, "METER/DRV" on the front of the TS-590SG is used to toggle the function ON/OFF. Connect USB 2.0 jack on SDRplay receiver to your Windows PC. After installing, MIRIC drivers, Alberto di Bene's (I2PHD) HDSDR software, and the SDRplay plugin in HDSDR it all runs like a HYBRID SDR transceiver, since OmniRig Syncronized both rigs perfectly, even fully accessing the Control Console of the SDRplay while running HDSDR for full receiver control. The Kenwood transceiver now operates: AA) with its internal receiver; or BB) as a "hybrid" SDR transceiver when using the SDRplay RSP as its receiver (with a selectable bandwith from .200 to 8.000MHz). And friends, the system is VERY STABLE.”
There’s also a video where someone uses an RTLSDR as a Panadapter with a Kenwood TS490SG. https://youtu.be/2-CF_BQcdpE
Finally, if you join the Facebook group on https://www.facebook.com/groups/sdrplay several of the people there have successfully done exactly what you are trying to do and can give detailed advice on any questions you may have.
This video shows how well it all works with the SDRplay RSP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCAIYWk02K0
We at SDRplay are trying to improve our documentation on Panadapters.... This is a very general overview to which we hope to add rig by rig information and links....http://www.sdrplay.com/Panadapterintro1.pdf

Re: sdrplay & KenwoodTS590SG
I have faithfully followed the instructions above and although I got the Sdrplay to work OK I have not been able to get the 590sg to actually change the frequency on the Sdrplay.

Re: sdrplay & KenwoodTS590SG
Finally managed to get Silicon Labs program to place a new COM port on my PC. So SDRplay is now controlled by the TS-590sg at long last!
