api_Service not Responding. What To Do, Please ?
Hello,
Have the new 1.3 version installed, and the brand
new download had good sizes for the screens. Great.
But, when i try to run it, i get an error msg:
SDRUno Error: Device cannot be initalized (SDRPlay_api_ service Not Responding)
Funny, as I do have the api in the correct Folder, I believe.
What should i do, please ?
Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,
Most probably you have leftovers from previous version of SDR play in the System. To stop all problems for good my experience is as follows:
1) De-install Driver(s).
2) De-install SDRplay.
3) All must go until you are left with an SDRplay empty folder.
4) Reboot PC.
5) Do a fresh install of Ver. 1.3 with RSP USB disconnected.
6) All must start anew, including PC messages advising about installing driver after you have re-connected the USB. If you do not get these messages, it means you have not fully cleaned it up.
7) Wait until drivers installed and give it a little time more, then turn SDRplay on: it will work fine!!
Cheers,
glovisol

Re: api_Service not Responding. What To Do, Please ?
Hello Folks,
For me all this de-installing and re-installing 1.30 only works one time. The next time I start my computer, I get the same "api_Service not Responding" error again.
For the time being I am back to 1.22.

Re: api_Service not Responding. What To Do, Please ?
Hello Geri,
In a small number of cases it seems there is a time-out issue which is causing the Service based API to stall or crash. We are looking into this to try to understand what is happening. As soon as we are able to get to the bottom of this, we will issue a hotfix
In the meantime, please try this:
1. Navigate to your SDRuno installation directory and locate the RestartService.bat.
2. Run this batch file and wait for it to complete. Run it again and check that is has completed.
3. Check that the service is running by typing Services in the Windows search box and selecting Component Services followed by Services (local). Scroll down scroll down the list until you find SDRplay API Service. Under 'Status' it should say either 'Started' (Win 7) or 'Running' (Win 10).
4. Now reconnect your USB cable and try to re-start SDRuno.
Don't forget that release 1.22 and 1.3 can coexist on the same machine, so it will not be necessary to uninstall release 1.3. Just ensure that you install the two different versions in different directories so that one does not overwrite the other.
Sincerely

Re: api_Service not Responding. What To Do, Please ?
Thanks for the information, currently this solves the problem and 1.30 is running again. I will try if this also helps if it gets stuck again after I start the computer again at a later time.

Hello Tech_Support,
Your proposed way worked 2 or 3 times but now I have the same bug again. API is running, according to Windows but when I reconnect the radio and start SDRUno, I get the same error.
Back to 1.22!

Re: api_Service not Responding. What To Do, Please ?
I in the meantime I have exactly the same problem on an MS Surface tablet (Windows 10-64).
The SDRPlay API service is running, but the error message persists. Multiple stopping and restarting of the service does not help.
There are no "rests" of previous installations, because SDRuno 1.3 was installed fresh on the tablet for doing some mobile tests. But it does not run there.
No problems on a desktop PC with Windows 10-64.

Re: api_Service not Responding. What To Do, Please ?
Still no avail with SDRuno V 1.31.
"Device cannot be initialised (sdrplay_api_Fail)."
The service is running. I tried to stop and restart it repeatedly. But no avail.
It seems that I have to quit using SDRPlay RSP1 on a Microsoft Surface 2 tablet.
