Auto scanning and recording.
Auto scanning and recording.
Hi all. I am a newbie here. I used to have an Icom PCR-1500 receiver and it had a few interesting features that the RSP software doesn't seem to offer. I could monitor a frequency and it would automatically record the audio as long as a signal was present. Another feature was that you could scan a predefined set of frequencies and it would record the audio automatically. Another feature I liked is that it could scan a predefined band and put the active frequencies in a database. I will buy a RSP2 when they become available in Canada and would like to do these things. Maybe they will be available in a future version of the software. Thanks for any info.

I'd say you need a scanner or radio spectrum monitoring software and not a general purpose receiver software such as SDRuno. Once the API for the RSP2 is released, you are not limited to SDRuno but can download, or ever write yourself, a program more suitable for your needs.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I hope to find a suitable program.

Re: Auto scanning and recording.
Scanning is on the to-do list for SDRUno and SDRConsole in the not to distant future, we (beta testers) have given the SDRPlay guys the basic info that we would like in a scanner, and if the list is followed wit will be a VERY good scanner...

Re: Auto scanning and recording.
I've used an older version(v1.0.0.1361) of SDRSharp along with a scanner plugin for it with so-so results. It does work for casual scanning but offers none of the recording features which you mentioned. But I'll bet that Paul is right - the SDRuno scanner will likely be awesome!
